IMPORTANT INFORMATION for TIE 2012 Presenters

Session Logistics - Review the time and location of your presentation on the TIE website, which contains the most current session information. There may be some last minute changes resulting from room openings or cancellations. Alison Saylor will make every effort to notify you if your day or timeslot changes. Similarly, contact Alison if you have any corrections or questions.

Come Prepared to Connect - If you’re using a MacBook, iPad or other device requiring a video adapter in order to connect to the projector, be sure you bring the connector with you. There is a 10-minute interval between sessions for setup. In the unlikely event there is a problem with the wireless network, a wired connection is available as backup.

Session and Conference Evaluation - Please allow a few minutes at the end of your session for attendees to complete the Session Evaluation form. We are happy to share the information gathered with you: if you are interested, send an email to Karen Ortiz, Conference Chair.

Special Opportunity - The Educational Television Online Consortium (ETOC) will videotape segments of conference sessions as a part of the “A Day in the Life of TIE” documentary project. Once completed, the documentary will be aired on various district TV channels.

Rob Piekarski, project lead from DPS, and his team will be onsite throughout the entire conference conducting interviews with conference attendees, presenters, DAETC Stipend recipients, and others involved with TIE. Rob and his team will be carrying consent waivers to be signed if they choose to tape your session. Please feel free to approach the crew if you would like to contribute your thoughts via the video. Attendees can participate as well.

The video team will place signage prominently on session room doors so everyone at the conference is aware of the taping.  Signs will also be posted outside all the sessions that will be recorded. If for any reason you do not want to be videotaped at any time during the conference, please let us know at registration.

Feel free to direct any questions to Karen Ortiz, Conference Chair and project liaison, at [email protected]. Thanks in advance for your willingness to assist in this incredible educational project.

TIE Colorado Edmodo Community - We are encouraging attendees to join the TIE Community and your session groups through Edmodo! Many of you provided a link to the website where your presentation materials will be stored for attendees. Please post these links, session handouts, and other materials for your session group on Edmodo. The TIE Edmodo community makes it easy for your session’s participants to access your resources, as well as engage in conversations regarding your session topic before, during, and after the conference.

If you are not yet a member of the TIE Community on Edmodo, simply go to Edmodo.com to sign up for a free teacher account, then join the Edmodo TIE Presenters group using the code: vrrz17. Look up your session’s 4-digit+co code (e.g., 1234co) on the TIE website, or print a program schedule, and join that group to begin posting your resources and connecting with your session’s participants.

Session Backchannel - Please ask someone in your session to monitor the backchannel on Edmodo for you, as it’s difficult to both present and follow questions at the same time. Ask the moderator to follow the posts and allow time for those participating online to ask questions and share feedback.

MobiTM Mobile Interactive Whiteboards - Presenters who signed up to use the eInstruction MobiTM in their session have been entered into a special, presenter’s only, drawing to win one of several Mobis at the end of the conference! You must be present at the Closing Session to win. Additional MobisTM will be given away to the entire conference participant population, and you will have a chance to win one of those as well.

Conference Registration - ALL presenters and co-presenters must be registered for the TIE Conference. As the main presenter, you were required to have your co-presenter(s) register as an attendee.

Presenter Honorarium - Educators who offer 1-, 2-, and 3-hour presentations receive  $50/hour honorarium. A commensurate check is issued when you register for the conference. Please refer to your acceptance email for further details. Unfortunately, co-presenters are not awarded a separate honorarium, but you are encouraged to share your remuneration with your colleagues.

Again, we would like to thank you for helping make the TIE Conference a huge success. Without your collective expertise, this annual event would not be possible. If you have any questions, please contact Alison. We are looking forward to seeing all of you at Copper Mountain this summer.
